Post treatment skincare instruction
You’ve just completed your treatment - amazing!
Your skin is now in renewal mode, and we can’t wait for you to see the fresh, radiant results develop in the days ahead.
To maximise your results, we’ve included a post-treatment information sheet for your convenience. And as always, if you need anything, just reach out. We’re here to support your journey to glowing, healthy skin!
Day 1
Avoid Sun Exposure: Stay out of direct sunlight, beware of reflection and sitting next to windows. The treatment has created millions of microchannels that stay open for 72 hours. This means all products and sun exposure become more penetrative and therefore impactful. Sun exposure to skin with such heightened sensitivity can cause pigmentation.
No Skin Products: Do not apply anything to the skin on the first evening. Managing Discomfort: If the skin feels uncomfortable, hot or itchy (these are normal reactions), splash the area with cold water and apply a hydrating sheet mask or the products we have provided for you to take home if necessary.
Day 2
Option 1: Resume your regular skincare routine with the following considerations:
Use a gentle cleanser, moisturiser, repair gel, or calming essence and any products we have provided.
Apply SPF if exposure to UV is expected. Mineral-based products are recommended.
Only if necessary, make-up may be applied, and we recommend mineral-based products.
Avoid active ingredients such as AHAs, BHAs (until day 7) and retinols (day 14).
Option 2: For more intensive results:
Avoid cleansing the skin for the first 72 hours. Instead, splash with cool water. This will keep more of the
spicules in situ and hence provide greater results.
Apply the take-home moisturising and soothing products that we have provided to moisturise
Avoid wearing makeup, and apply SPF if exposed to the sun.
Day 3
Skin Purging: For acne-prone skin, increased acne or clogged pores may appear around day 3. This is a normal part of the process.
Peeling: Skin peeling may occur, but is not essential for treatment success.
Do not pick, tear, or scratch any peeling skin.
If the skin feels tight and begins to peel, continue to apply the provided moisturising gels or products and ensure you return for your Express Activated Exfoliating Enzyme Facial.
Moisturise often with products (avoid AHA, BHA and retinols)
Day 7
Return for your free Activated Enzyme Facial AHA and BHA’s can be recommenced, but avoid retinols (until day 14) Normal make-up, cleansing routine and SPF application
Day 14
Retinols can be recommenced Further Spicules treatment can be attended to from this day forward if your skin has returned to normal.
Additional Notes:
Skin Sensitivity: Prickling or tenderness may last for 24–48 hours.
Avoid: Swimming in chlorinated or salt water for 48 hours and excessive sweating, saunas, hot baths, or hot tubs for 72 hours (to prevent bacteria from entering the microchannels)
Fresh pillowcase for the first two or three nights.
Avoid active ingredients like AHAs or BHAs for at least 7 days and Retinol for 14 days.
Hydration: Keep the skin well-moisturised throughout the day to manage dryness. Supplement you intake of EFA’s +++
SPF should be applied as suggested, even without spicule treatment, even in winter/colder months
BIO-MICRONEEDLING
MICRONEEDLING WITH RF AND 1540 LASER
Following your treatment, your therapist will apply a soothing gel. You will also be provided a small pot of this to reapply once or twice over the next 24 hours.
You can apply a clean face washer with cold water to ease any heat or discomfort or a mask if provided to you.
Avoid direct sun exposure and cover up if you anticipate you’ll be out in the sun (even just on your drive home)
24 hours after treatment
Avoid sweat-inducing activities, hot baths, saunas, and chlorinated pools
Avoid applying foundation makeup
Cleanse your face with lukewarm or cold water and pat dry
2 - 5 days post-treatment
Return to your normal skincare regime however, avoid vitamin A (retinol), exfoliating products (e.g. glycolic and salicylic acid) for 7 days
You may notice redness 2-3 days post-treatment, this is entirely normal and will subside. If you apply something and it stings, wash it off gently with lukewarm or cold water and pat dry. Wait another 24 hours before using this product again
5-7 days post-treatment
Return to normal make up and products except for physical and chemical exfoliants. e.g. glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acid, vitamin A (retinol), physical exfoliants (microdermabrasion), or any other products that sensitise your skin.
Extremely rarely, minor blistering can occur. If this happens, be mindful that if you pop or pick at the area, this can lead to adverse reactions such as infection and scarring.
14 days post-treatment
You can return to your normal exfoliating products if your skin feels normal and is not showing any signs of dryness or redness. However, consider when your next treatment has been booked, and the pre-treatment requirements for that treatment (mainly products to avoid) before beginning these products again.
ALWAYS ENSURE THAT YOU ARE WEARING AN SPF 30 OR HIGHER DAILY.
